Itinerary: Turquoise Coast Painting Holidays. Day 1…Amyntas. Our minibus will take us to the famous and splendid Amytntas tombs above the town of Fethiye. These grand tombs date from the 4th Century BC and provide the perfect composition because they are set into the mountain backdrop. From this elevated position the artists have a choice of subject because the views across the town and bay are stunning too. With your camera you will be able to capture fascinating photographs from which you can paint at a later stage. Our minibus will return us to our hotel for a picture gallery session and evening meal Day 2 …Kayakoy ( Ghost Village ) We step back in time whilst painting in this unique and ancient village. We will paint amidst the ancient cobbled pathways lined by a myriad of churches and houses, which were abandoned by the Greeks. Known now as ghost town it has become a peaceful and atmospheric location which once consisted of over 1,000 households, schools, churches and a whole variety of craftsmen. Every building will inspire and hold your fascination. We return to the hotel by minibus for our nightly picture gallery session and enjoyable evening meal together. Day 3… Uzumlu Our minibus will transport us to the original village centre of Uzumlu which is set below mountains which soar to over 2,000m high. Uzumlu is known for its wine, grape production and almond trees. We will see examples of traditional clothing made from locally grown and bleached cotton. Here we will study the architecture of the buildings and houses of this attractive rural town. Your compositions will produce paintings that embody the spirit of village life. By minibus we return to the hotel for our gallery sessions and evening meal. Day 4… Karagozler and Traditional Turkish Boat Yard Our minibus will make the short journey to the boat yard of nearby Karagozler, where pines Gullets are still made by traditional methods on the waters edge. A fascinating glimpse into this unchanged industry, where boats are constructed, repaired and maintained, out of the water. The boat yard has a fabulous view of the bay and is surrounded by mountains. Every boat will be a subject in itself and this location will certainly provide you with interesting and unique compositions. Day 5…Kabak Who cannot be overwhelmed by the beauty and tranquillity of this location. Artists can stay on the upper part of Kabak with its fine views across one of the prettiest bays of the region or walk down the path to spend the day on the sandy bay. Perhaps you would wish to relax and take a refreshing swim in the clear turquoise water. The choice is yours. Pine and olive trees, mountains and aerial views of the bay offer many painting opportunities. Our mini bus will collect us from this paradise and return us to our hotel.
Day 6 …Sovalye Island What better way to conclude your painting holiday than with a boat trip on our yacht to the nearby island of Sovalye Island. After such a busy week, we will just sketch on this day. You will experience stunning scenery with every step on this tiny island, from island houses, small boats, and spectacular panoramic views.
